Matt Steinbrenner

Matt is an Emmy Award winning Production Designer with 20 years of experience in live television.  Specializing in award shows and TV specials, Matt has been recognized with an Emmy Award and several more nominations as well multiple Art Directors Guild Awards. His television design credits include the 2023, 2024 and 2025 MTV Video Music Awards; Ben Platt Live at the Palace Broadway Residency and North American Tour; the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NBCUniversal Upfront at Radio City; the Culture Awards; Miley Cyrus: Stand By You on NBC; Opry100 live broadcast on NBC; Stand Up to Cancer broadcast on all major US TV networks; performances on the MTV VMAs and Europe Music Awards; and the GRAMMY Salute to Music Legends.

Other career highlights include serving as Art Director for the 2020 Democratic National Convention, two Academy Awards ceremonies (earning multiple ADG Awards), over a decade of MTV Video Music Awards, the GRAMMY Awards (2012 Emmy Award winner), the MTV Europe Music Awards in Seville, Budapest, and Dusseldorf, Elton John at The White House, 4 US Billboard Music Awards, Madonna’s 2019 Billboard Music Awards performance, the Miss Universe China Pageant in Beijing, CNN Heroes (Emmy-nominated), and the Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show starring Prince.

Beyond television, Matt has designed theatrical productions in London, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, including a custom theater renovation in Las Vegas (Baz at the Palazzo) where the set was permanently integrated into the venue. He has also designed the world’s largest Spiegeltent, The Cinevita, fabricated in Belgium. His expertise has been recognized internationally, including as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Production Talks conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
